Bug #2264
Concerns raised by Jason Coleman about the Vocab App
0%
Description
A user (Jason Coleman) has raised some issues with the Vocab app. He has given a low rating for the app because of these issues. From what we can infer his main concerns are:
1) The app provides inaccurate definitions
The Vocab App is reviewed periodically by taking into account the feedback provided by users. All relevant changes have been made in the Word Model Sample Data sheet. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1H_UoEjhyUPnNDcZXFZTIDZOVSZ6flNTfqR_3sg-Dm8Y/edit#gid=766237424.
The Tech team is yet to make the changes live. If the student could identify which questions he found issues with, we could look into the same.
2) The app relies heavily on a single definition, ignoring other possible meanings.
We provide a number of formal and informal definitions for each word with relevant examples, synonyms and images. Please refer to the sheet above.
3) The app confuses similar sounding words
He has given the example of the word "scuffle" and pointed out that we confused its meaning with another similar word "shuffle". However, we checked the sheet and found the definitions given are correct. Either the user got confused because the two words sound similar. It might also be the case that all the definitions on the sheet were not appearing for the user. In this case, it might be a user experience issue, which the Tech team would be in a better position to help with.
4) Lack of context in a question (This was raised in the Vocab app)
This concern was raised with reference to a particular question in the Vocab App, but we have no way of knowing which question the user is referring to. We would need the help and expertise of the Tech team to resolve the issue.
